What is Reiki Therapy?

Reiki is as good online as in person so the choice is yours.Reiki therapy is a Japanese form of energy or chi healing that aims to balance the flow of personal energy in your body. The ancient practice was rediscovered and developed in Japan in the early 1900s by Mikao Usui. It is based on the concept of healing with chi, qi or universal life force energy. During a Reiki healing session, a practitioner will use their hands to channel this energy into the client’s body. The intention is to promote relaxation and help the body’s natural healing energies and processes. Reiki therapy is known for its gentle nature, and it can be used to address a wide range of physical, emotional, and mental health concerns. Many people turn to Reiki therapy as a complementary treatment for pain, anxiety, low mood and stress-related conditions. The practice is often described as a deeply calming and rejuvenating experience that leaves clients feeling more balanced, grounded and centred.

Benefits Reiki Therapy Can Give You

Reiki therapy is a type of energy healing that is designed to help individuals relax and restore balance in their body, mind, and spirit. This practice has been around for centuries and has gained popularity in recent years due to its many benefits. Here are just a few of the ways that reiki healing can improve your life:

  1. Stress Reduction – One of the most well-known benefits of Reiki therapy is it can help reduce stress and anxiety. The practice of reiki involves the use of gentle touch and manipulation of energy fields, which can help to calm the nervous system and promote a sense of deep relaxation. Touch is an essential part of being human and many people in Western societies shy away from it.
  2. Pain Relief – Reiki therapy can also be helpful in managing pain and discomfort in the body. The gentle touch and energy manipulation techniques used in reiki healing can help to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes and reduce inflammation and swelling.
  3. Emotional Healing – In addition to physical benefits, Reiki therapy can also be helpful in promoting emotional healing. Many individuals find that reiki healing helps them to release negative emotions and patterns of thought, allowing them to feel more centered and grounded in their daily lives.
  4. Decreased Anxiety – Another benefit of reiki therapy is that it can help to decrease anxiety levels and improve overall well-being. By restoring balance to the body’s energy fields, reiki treatments can help individuals feel more relaxed and less stressed.

Whether you choose to receive Reiki therapy online or in person, there are many potential benefits to be gained from this practice. With its gentle touch and energy manipulation techniques, reiki healing can help you to feel more relaxed, balanced, and energized in your daily life.

Choosing Between Online or In Person Reiki Sessions

If you’re considering trying out Reiki therapy, one of the first things you’ll need to decide is whether to opt for online or in person sessions. While both options offer similar benefits, there are some key differences you should be aware of before making your choice.

Picture of someone relaxing at home with online Reiki therapyOnline Reiki therapy sessions can be a convenient option for those with busy schedules or limited mobility. With online sessions, you can receive Reiki energy healing from the comfort of your own home, without having to travel to a practitioner’s office. So online sessions are affordable timewise as you don’t have to travel anywhere as you would for in person sessions. This may make them a more appealing option for those on a time-limited budget.

You might think it can be more challenging for the practitioner to accurately assess your energy needs without being able to physically touch you. However, Reiki energy is renowned for its ability to go where it is needed most. It actually chooses where to land no matter where the healing hands of the practitioner are put on the client’s body when in person. Even if there are technological hiccups, they should only disrupt the session temporarily before we reconnect online and continue.

On the other hand, in person Reiki therapy sessions can offer a more immersive and intimate healing experience. You’ll be able to meet with your practitioner face-to-face, and they’ll be able to use gentle soothing touch to help direct the flow of Reiki energy through your body. This can make for a more powerful and effective healing experience.

However, in person sessions may not be practical for everyone. You’ll need to schedule an appointment and travel to the practitioner’s office, which may be difficult if you have a busy schedule or mobility issues. In addition, in person sessions are typically more expensive than online sessions, which may be a barrier for some people.

Ultimately, the choice between online and in person Reiki therapy sessions will depend on your individual needs and preferences. If you’re unsure which option is right for you, give us a call 07979 814388 or even consider trying both and seeing which one feels like a better fit. No matter which option you choose, Reiki therapy can be a powerful tool for healing and personal growth.

History and Origins of Reiki

Mount Kurama where Reiki was bornReiki is a Japanese form of healing that has its roots in the late 19th century. The practice was developed by Mikao Usui, a Japanese teacher. He is credited with re-discovering the ancient technique after years of study. He had a profound enlightenment after a period of fasting and meditation on the mountaintop of Mount Kurama in Japan.

Usui’s discovery of Reiki is often referred to as a spiritual awakening. During his time on the mountaintop, he reportedly experienced a powerful energy flow. He believed this to be the universal life force energy that flows through all living things. This theory is backed up to an extent by modern quantum physics. We are after all being of energy and all matter too is made up of different energy levels. But I digress.

Upon his return to society, Usui found he could heal people without even meaning to. So he began teaching Reiki to others and the practice quickly spread throughout Japan. In the years that followed, several different styles of Reiki emerged, each with their own unique approach to the practice.

Today, Reiki is practiced around the world and is used to treat a wide range of physical, emotional, and spiritual ailments. While the origins of Reiki are rooted in Japanese culture, the practice has been adapted and modified to suit the needs of practitioners and patients from all over the world.

Whether you choose to participate in Reiki therapy online or in person, the practice is based on a deep understanding of the universal energy that connects all living things. By tapping into this energy and channelling it through the body, Reiki practitioners believe that they can promote healing and well-being on a physical, emotional, energy and spiritual level.
