Causes of ED Erectile Dysfunction – Treatment for Impotence
Erectile dysfunction (ED) also called impotence is a common men’s sexual issue. It happens to many men when they cannot get a firm erection or cannot maintain one long enough to facilitate intercourse. It can have many causes both physical and psychological, the latter of which we have treatments for here. Some major psychological factors that can affect a man’s performance include general anxiety, performance anxiety, depression, stress, unreal expectations of sex (comparisons to actors in pornography). If you don’t address your ED it may continue and in the long term lead to avoidance of intimacy, a reduced quality or life and even relationship breakdown. However, no need to worry. We can help you to lead a more fulfilling love life. Call or text 07979 814388 now to make an appointment.
Understanding Psychological Causes of Erectile Dysfunction
Psychological causes of ED include negative past experiences, performance anxiety, general anxiety, stress, depression, unrealistic expectations (comparisons with actors in movies) and sexual unhappiness. These emotional problems can often create a vicious cycle where the fear of not being able to perform leads to further difficulties.
It’s Not Just Physical Issues That Cause Impotence
There are also many different physical causes of ED including Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, obesity, peyronie’s disease, being a smoker and vascular disease can all play a role. These should be addressed by your GP in the first instance but, we do offer some free reading links below in the references section.
Many men grapple with the misconception that their struggle is solely a physical one, when in fact, the mind plays a crucial role. If you can imagine, the last time you tried for an intimate interlude you had a negative experience. At that time you struggled to maintain an erection and it all ended in disappointment. Now, each time you try again you worry about it happening in the anticipation, flirtation or foreplay phase.
The Standard Sexual Sequence for Men is Simple:
Flirtation > Arousal > Sexual activity (intimacy considered optional throughout)
For most women this sequence is more complex:
Flirtation > Intimacy (foreplay) > Arousal > Sexual activity > Intimacy (afterglow)
Past experince of ED > altered sequence for men can become:
Anticipation > Performance worries > Flirtation > Performance anxiety > No arousal (ED) > Leading to embarrassment, disappointment and even avoidance
With hypnotherapy and NLP treatment we can get you to reframe those negative thoughts, worries, past experiences and emotions to more positive ones. We offer you solutions to get your performance back to the way it used to be, the way it should be, the way you want it to be. Call or text today 07979 814388 to make your appointment.
Performance Anxiety Treatment for ED
Performance anxiety for our purposes can be defined as nervousness or worry about how you will perform or even how you are actually performing during an intimate act. If you can imagine, in the lead up to intimacy there should be positive anticipation of the pleasure in the first instance. If this has been replaced by performance anxiety, it can lead to ED and or make any instance of it you had previously worse. There is a negative cycle that leads us from anxiety to uncomfortable, stressed performance, then leading to frustration or embarrassment that we have to break.
Stopping it means discovering where your anticipatory performance anxiety has come from and breaking the cycle before it takes hold. This can lead you to being able to make love just like you did when you were a teenager. Full on!
Proven Hypnotherapy Solutions for Anxiety
Therapeutic interventions (hypnotherapy and neuro-linguistic programming techniques used here) can help you understand your anxieties and self-doubts which can fuel erectile dysfunction. There are many techniques we use here that have lots of evidence saying they do work and work well for you. Here we offer you confidential, private safe space for discussion. Talking about problems can be a help in itself. Therapy can help men articulate their fears and then dismantle any performance anxiety that is hindering their sexual performance. Then we can get back to how things they were before all these issues began, how things should be for you and your lover.
Desire > Positive Anticipation > Mutual Pleasure > Fulfilling Intercourse > Climax > Happy Closeness Afterwards.
All of this can and should happen without any anxiety, frustration or embarrassment at any point. Just the way you want things to be. Call 07979 814388 to book your appointment today.
