What is Premature Ejaculation (PE)?

1 in 3 men suffer from ED at some time in lufeFirstly, let me say you are not alone. 1 in 3 men experience premature ejaculation at some point in their life. It is a very common issue that can be treated. PE happens when a man orgasms in an uncontrollable fashion, quicker than he would like. The average time for a man to climax after penetration takes place has changed over the years. For many reasons, especially with younger people, it is now much shorter a time than it used to be.

However, for our purposes we will consider.

  • 1 or 2 minutes from penetration to climax as premature (too quick)
  • between 3 and 6 minutes as OK (acceptable) but we may want to last longer
  • between 7 to 15 minutes as very desirable
  • 30 minutes can be too long, for a number of reasons.
  • This is a generalisation of how sex is perceived by British people.

The aims of treatment here are to take you from premature (climaxing too quick), to OK or very desirable. We want to put you in control of what you are feeling and how you are responding rather than allowing your mind and body to simply react too quickly.

Useful Treatments for Premature Climax in Men

happy couple huggingDuring your hypnotherapy sessions, we start off by guiding you into a deeply relaxed state. This is called the induction because, it induces hypnosis. While relaxed it is easier to access your subconscious mind. We (your therapist and you) as a team will begin to reframe negative thinking patterns, or triggers that are contributing to incidence of pre-ejaculation. We will be replacing negative beliefs you hold about yourself, changing them into positive affirmations about you. This can enhance your belief in your ability to make love well, like you want to instead. In doing this you can cultivate a more positive, healthier and more confident mindset. This mental shift to “I am in control of what I am feeling” can substantially improve your ability to manage your sexual responses. This can allow you to enjoy many more longer lasting, satisfying, intimate moments. Call or text 07979 814388 today to book your appointment.

Take Home Techniques to Help PE

In addition to hypnotherapy solutions there are some other therapeutic techniques that we can offer you. I will give you the basics of these ideas here that may help.

  • Kegal exercises: Pelvic floor exercises can help to strengthen muscles used to both keep your erection and also to ejaculate. To do these simply flex the muscles you use to stop peeing in mid flow. These muscles can also be described as the ones you use to bounce your penis upward. These are also the ones you use when you flex your anal sphincter to stop passing wind. Clench them hold for a minute and release. You can do this anywhere and time no one will know what you are doing. The stronger these muscles are the better you erections can be and the more in control you are.
  • Start and stop technique: With the agreement of your partner you may start intercourse and then stop stimulation for 30 seconds when you feel close to climax. Then you can restart. Obviously good communication needs to take place when doing this. Your partner needs to understand what’s happening so as to not accidentally push you over the edge as it were. Talk about it and then give it a go. This can be repeated many times during intercourse until you feel the time is right for you.
  • Practice edging regularly: Take the time regularly maybe twice a week (in the shower for example) to bring yourself close to climax and stop before you reach the point of no return. Doing this will allow you to understand how things feel before just you orgasm. Having this understanding may allow you to pause, withdraw, perhaps change position slightly or kiss and then once the urge has relented, resume intercourse.
  • Edge and press technique: Bring yourself close to orgasm as above and when you are very close, stop!. Gently grasp the glans (head of your penis) and squeeze it firmly between 2 fingers. Wait for the urge to reduce. Resume what you were doing. This can be done during intercourse if you withdraw and tell you partner what you are doing and why. With practice this is a very good way to delay the inevitable climax. You can even do this a few times if you wish.
  • Mental distraction: Think of something mundane as you start to get close to climax. Just a simple but pleasing distraction. An obvious example might be the last time watched football or any sport (not beach volleyball or thinking about the father in law, that’s too much distraction). Just take your mind off what you are feeling in your genitals for a minute or 2 but, not so long that you loose your erection.
  • Masturbate beforehand: If you are of the age where it is possible to do so, you could try masturbating to climax a couple of hours before you engage in intercourse. Then when you are intimate things may take longer.
  • Use heavy duty condoms: If you are using thicker condoms than you have done in the past, this may alter the amount your penis is stimulated and allow you to last longer.
  • Use it or loose it: Have orgasms regularly (2 or 3 times a week) via masturbation or intercourse. You might also try to masturbate by stimulating only the lower ½ of your penis, the shaft and not stimulating the head.
  • Get control over your health. PE can be caused by diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid problems and prostate issues as well. If you get any of these problems under control it may help other things too.
